I know a very fun game that stimulates creativity and introspection. In this game, one must imagine a surreal scenario in which a cube, a ladder, a treasure, and a horse appear in a desert. The facilitator should know the rules, while the others explore the images that emerge.
It begins like this:
Imagine you are in a desert. Describe this desert.
You should ask whether the desert has dunes or if the ground is flat. You can also ask if the wind is blowing and let the participant freely describe the landscape.
Next, the player must imagine walking in the desert and coming across a cube.
Here you should ask if the cube is transparent or colored and how big it is. Additionally, it’s interesting to know if the cube seems to be floating and how fragile it appears.
Then, a ladder appears.
You invite the participant to freely describe the ladder, paying attention to its stability.
Next, a horse appears.
You will ask the participant to describe the horse, exploring its vitality and whether it is approaching the traveler or moving away. The free description will help provoke further reflections.
Finally, a treasure is found.
You can ask how valuable the treasure is and what its significance is in terms of preciousness.
Interpretation
Desert
The desert represents one’s perception of their past. If the participant describes many dunes, it means they consider it vibrant. If there is wind, it indicates that change is perceived in their life.
Cube
The cube symbolizes self-vision. An opaque or very colorful cube may indicate a tendency to hide aspects of one’s personality. If the cube rests on the ground, the traveler has a concrete personality; if it appears to float, it means they may not have “their feet on the ground.” The cube’s fragility reflects the person’s vulnerability.
Ladder
The ladder suggests the perception of friendships. If it is a runged vertical ladder, they might feel they do not have friends to rely on. The height of the ladder represents the number of friends, trusted or not, that they feel they have at this moment.
Horse
The horse symbolizes sexuality. If the horse is vigorous and healthy, the traveler perceives themselves as having a strong sexuality. If the horse approaches, the participant feels sexually attractive.
Treasure
The treasure reflects the traveler’s attention to superficialities. A large treasure may seem superfluous in the desert, suggesting that a smaller treasure, like a bag of gold coins or a modest necklace, is more significant.
Finally, the distance or closeness of the objects in the desert indicates how present the participant feels in their life. Greater distances between objects suggest a need to reclaim one’s life.
